Disseminate Bone-setting at Wakaura to the World
What is bone-setting?
Bone-setting is a practice in traditional medicine that has existed since ancient times in Japan. It has its roots in a technique where a judo instructor puts back a bone in place when a misalignment occurs due to bone fracture or dislocation. Bone-setting, its scientific basis in particular, is an evolving practice.
About our clinic
Our clinic (Hatakenaka Osteopathic Clinic–Wakauraguchi Main Clinic) is located in front of the bus stop at Wakauraguchi, which is the gateway to Wakaura, one of the tourist spots of the Wakayama prefecture.
Our clinic, established in Japan over 70 years, is a world-class clinic in all respects, including its history, equipment, and clinic scale. You can undergo our bone-setting or acupuncture/moxibustion therapy at actual cost in Japanese currency. Our clinic is housed in a three-story building, which has a judo school on its third floor. In the 34 years since its establishment, this judo school has produced more than 800 disciples. In addition, the clinic director is a relative of the owners of the Kishu Toshogu Shrine, which enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo Shogunate.

Acupuncture/moxibustion therapy
As disposable needles are used, the risk of infection is eliminated. When the needles are inserted under the skin into the muscle, an analgesic effect is produced that cannot be experienced with any treatment device. An anesthetic substance in the brain is induced based on a theory called the gateway control, which does not use drugs and other materials at all. Thus, it is a completely safe treatment method with no side effects.
Judo school
A form of martial art that ranks third among Olympic events of Japanese origin in terms of number of players. With 110 tatami mats, its judo hall is the largest in size among private judo halls in Japan. A special shock-absorbing material is placed under and along the sides of each tatami mat for learners’ safety.
Japan boasts of a body composition analyzer that exists nowhere else in the world except in several places in Japan.
Our clinic has adopted the same type of body composition analyzer (calculates muscle mass, balance, basal metabolism, etc.), which has been adopted at the National Training Center, a leading institution in Japan for training athletes. You can request to use it at the time of treatment or you can visit our clinic simply to use it. A remarkable feature of this device is that depending on the status of testing, you can view a suggested monthly exercise routine, including frequency. If an intended body shape is selected, the device automatically provides a monthly meal menu, created by a national registered dietitian, to realize such goal. However, to ensure testing accuracy, the analyzer is intended for adults (at or higher than a high-school age after the growth phase). We look forward to your visit and to your use of this device. <<Check the Physion MD poster>>
