昨日、教え子たちの試合をみに大学の団体戦の全国大会観戦にいきました
決勝は
名門同士
天理大学対東海大学
天理大学は、健心館OBが現在、お世話になっているので天理大学のところで応援しておりました
天理大学は、惜敗
どちらが勝ってもおかしくない試合でした
また、この試合をもって
東海大学上水監督、天理大学穴井監督が勇退されます
学生の皆さんも意気に感じて戦ったことでしょう
本当に両監督は名将です
直近で言えば
先月の個人戦全国大会で
天理大学は、7階級中4階級で優勝
健心館OBもこの穴井監督にお世話になってよかったと思います
卒業するまでお世話になってほしい気もします
が、監督業というのは、本当に大変だと思います
私も長年少年少女の監督をしてきて、
色々多岐にわたる動機のある子たちをどうするか？
また少年少女の場合は、保護者の方と子どもたち両方のコントロールが必要となります
小学生が、この状況なので
進路がかかる大学では多忙を極められたと思います
両監督は、教育者、真の柔道家であると思います
また外から日本柔道を、支えていただけたらと思います

I am Takeshi Hatkenaka, Director of Hatakenaka Orthopedic Clinic.
Yesterday, I went to watch the national team tournament at the university to see my students’ match.
The final was
between two prestigious schools:
Tenri University vs. Tokai University
Since Tenri University is where the Ken Shinkan alumni are currently affiliated, I was cheering for Tenri University.
Tenri University suffered a narrow defeat.
It was a match where either team could have won.
Also, following this match,
Tokai University’s Coach Kamizumi and Tenri University’s Coach Anai will be retiring.
The students surely fought with great spirit, feeling this significance.
Both coaches are truly legendary figures.
Just recently,
at last month’s national individual championships,
Tenri University won four out of seven weight classes.
I feel fortunate that Kenshinkan alumni were also mentored by Coach Anai.
I almost wish they could continue being mentored until graduation.
But coaching is truly a demanding job.
Having coached youth teams for many years myself,
I know the challenge of managing children with diverse motivations.
With young athletes, you must balance the needs of both the children and their parents.
This is especially true for elementary school students.
Considering the stakes involved in university placement, their schedules must have been overwhelming.
Both coaches are educators and true practitioners of judo.
I hope they will continue supporting Japanese judo from the sidelines.
